50 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of claims for residency status made prior to and since 23 January 2003 by the non-national parent of an Irish-born child; the number of cases which have been processed; the number of cases in which residency has been granted; the number of cases in which the application has been refused; the number of cases in which deportation of such parents have been ordered; the number of cases in which deportations have taken place; if his attention has been drawn to the serious concern expressed by the Human Rights Commission in regard to the procedures in use and particularly the lack of readily accessible legal advice to many such parents; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
