1023 Deputy Jonathan O’Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the procedures within immigration rules for an Irish national who marries a non-EEA national overseas and both wish to reside in Ireland but are unable to prove relationship history for the purposes of immigration procedures due to the parties having willingly consented to an arranged marriage which would not have allowed a relationship history to develop in the manner required for Irish immigration law; if there is sufficient flexibility within the system for non-EEA national spouses of Irish nationals to reside in Ireland when they have entered into a genuine marriage but are of a culture that would not have allowed for such a relationship history to develop in this manner; if there is provision to prevent discrimination based on religious faith in these cases; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
