Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection further to Parliamentary Question No. 173 of 16 January 2014, wherein reduction in rent support in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare resulted in hardship, if, in view of the serious housing shortage for all such persons dependent on rent support in lieu of local authority housing, she will enter into discussions with the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government with a view to restoring such rent reductions, particularly in the face of escalations in rent throughout the area caused by severe shortage of rental accommodation; if this issue might be considered as a matter of urgency; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
