Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment; Community and Local Government if he will identify and provide for a reorganisation of the shared ownership loan system which is currently penalising holders of such mortgages in a most unfair fashion whereby the rent being charged in respect of the local authority equity in the dwelling is vastly in excess in some cases of the mortgage on the remaining equity; if he will identify the ways and means of addressing this issue as a matter of urgency; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
