Murphy asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if, in view of the Pakistan earthquake, early response measures are being discussed with NGO’s and foreign Governments to ensure that an adequate response will be issued in the future to combat the extreme difficulties experienced by people caught up in natural disasters; the practical measures the Government plans to take in order that Ireland can deploy response teams and resources to affected areas in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
