Deputy Emmet Stagg asked the Minister for Social Protection if her attention has been drawn to the fact that where a spouse or partner is permanently resident in a nursing home and in receipt of the fair deal that the partner or spouse remaining at home is denied the benefits of the household benefits package and free fuel allowances as the income the partner or spouse in the nursing home continues to be included in the household budget; if she will make the changes necessary to remove this anomaly from the social welfare code; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
