PQ 12

113 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government will call on the UN Secretary General to instigate a review of the UN's conduct in relation to the Act of Free Choice in West Papua in 1968-69, similar to the review he instigated in 1999 into the UN's conduct in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide, in view of the fact that the evidence indicates that the conduct of the United Nations in the events surrounding the now discredited Act of Free Choice in West Papua brings the reputation of the UN into disrepute and in view of the Government's repeatedly stated commitment to the primacy of the United Nations in Irish foreign policy.
