PQ 12

12. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if, in view of the European Commission's decision to remove member state-specific renewable energy production targets, and considering the State's overall fossil fuel dependency ratio, he will restate Ireland's commitment to achieving a sizeable transition to renewably sourced energy to 2020 and beyond that date; if he considers it appropriate to state a domestic fossil fuel use reduction target as a statutory obligation on the State in domestic legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
