Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Health what action his Department is taking to ensure that the public dental service is adequately staffed and resourced, in view of recommendations set out in a report (details supplied) which advises that based on the current population, 450 whole-time equivalent dental posts are needed in the HSE public dental service in order to address the difficulties apparent in the service, and to enable the service deliver on its stated objectives of preventing dental health difficulties as well as caring for and treating children and other vulnerable groups; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
