214 Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction the undertaking of an economic impact assessment on the introduction of a financial transaction tax rate that would apply a tax of 0.1% on shares and bonds, and a tax of 0.01% on derivatives as has been proposed by the European Union Commission and which is likely be introduced under the EU’s enhanced cooperation procedure from 1 January 2014, to ascertain the affect such a policy would have here and on our financial industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
