Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade in light of the significant escalation in hostilities involving Iran and adjoining states between 28 February and 1 March 2026, during which her Department’s travel advice and consular outreach capacities were placed under heightened demand; the number of staff that were rostered, on duty, and actively responding to calls on her Department’s designated consular/emergency telephone lines (details supplied) over that weekend; the minimum and maximum number of personnel assigned per shift on those lines during that period; whether additional staff were seconded or diverted to support crisis consular operations; the average call handling time, call abandonment rate, and volume of incoming calls received on each consular/emergency line over that period; the criteria, rota system and escalation protocols used by her Department to ensure 24/7 consular hotline operation during periods of elevated demand; and the lessons identified or planned changes to resourcing and surge capacity for her Department’s consular contact centre arising from the experience of 28 February to1 March 2026.
