148. Deputy Jonathan O'Brien asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will reverse the decision of Student Universal Support Ireland which has refused to pay the contribution fee in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who was enrolled in a social work degree in USI, having previously moved back to his parents' house due to ill-health; if he feels that it is sufficient that grown adults are refused education funding based on their parents' incomes when they are not guaranteed that their parents will fund a course; the options open to students in those circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
