152 Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the basis and the date that lands, premises and yards, the property of persons (details supplied) in County Westmeath were designated as a special area of conservation; if, in the context of so designating, the appropriate investigations were carried out; if such survey referred to the fact that there was a production yard and premises in existence at this location since the 1950s as part of an ongoing business; the position whereby a business which has been in existence for well in excess of 50 years can be terminated in such fashion; if personnel from the National Parks and Wildlife Service have had appropriate discussions with the persons in relation to this designation and the impact it will have; the compensatory mechanism available in relation to such designation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
