Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Education and Skills the progress he has made in considering whether more challenging thresholds of competency are required for those planning to teach in the Irish medium sector as outlined in the policy on Gaeltacht education; if the Teastas Eorpach sa Ghaeilge will be linked to the assessment of student teachers' Irish language competency in Irish; and the CPD opportunities that have been made available for teachers in Gaeltacht and Irish medium schools for greater pedagogical competence to mediate the curriculum through Irish.
