Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the extent to which his Department continues to liaise with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with a view to maximising carbon sequestration without damaging the capacity of the food producing sector of the economy given the high level of sustainability of food production here which enables that sector produce sufficient food for almost 50 million persons while maintaining its carbon efficiency and sustainability; if precise information continues to be provided whereby wind, solar or hydro energy can at an early date replace imported fossil fuels; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
