248 Mr. Gogarty asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the policy procedure where the family of a person (details supplied) can be told on the telephone by the Health Services Executive staff that the person will have to wait three years for an assessment by an occupational therapist in Area 5 of the former South Western Area Health Board, before they can apply for a grant to the local authority for a shower; if, following the matter being brought to the health board’s attention the board will clarify that the waiting list for over 80s is in fact a year; if this is standard practice within the health and safety authority; if this means that another elderly person who has been waiting for an assessment is affected.
