314 Deputy James Reilly asked the Minister for Health and Children if there is adequate cover for emergency operations for persons who have detached retinas and need surgery as soon as possible to restore their sight; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that no hospital here could accommodate a person (details supplied) with the necessary emergency surgery to restore their sight and that this person was told that they would have to have the operation in a private clinic as there was no service available here in a timely manner for this surgery; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
