Deputy David Cullinane asked the Minister for Education and Skills if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the forward planning section of his Department has written to schools (details supplied) to inform them that for the 2018-19 school year they must adhere to a half stream intake of 13 junior infants; the reason for this decision; if this decision contravenes an earlier agreement between his Department and schools; if this restriction only applies to the schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
