Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Education and Skills the reason a student who has applied for registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland and who commenced their teacher education qualification outside of Ireland, holds a recognised and approved teaching qualification from the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland and meets the terms of the EU Directive 2005/36/EC has been advised that they do not have confirmed EU directive status from the Teaching Agency in England and is prevented from being assessed for the purpose of regulation 4, post-primary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
