Deputy Mary Mitchell O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Skills if, in view of comments made by individual teachers and schools that the number of successful applications for the appointment of a reader has been reduced, he will confirm the number of applications for readers, for the junior certificate, that were rejected in 2013, as a percentage of the number of students who applied; the way this percentage compares to the percentage number that were rejected in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
