Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if his attention has been drawn to the widespread concerns of the tyre industry in relation to the introduction of the new compliance scheme; if he will ensure that there are adequate consultations with the industry to enable the introduction of a scheme which will not distort the market and still meet the appropriate and necessary environmental objectives, if he will give due consideration to market distortions that occur particularly in the Border region with imports from Northern Ireland and Britain; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
