Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Health if he is satisfied with the efficiency of the medical card office; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that fully completed applications are no longer being processed within the 15 day timeframe as previously indicated; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that applications are being held for more than one month with the medical officer alone; the measures he will take to ensure that this process is improved to ensure that those who require a medical card on discretionary grounds are not left waiting for long periods of time; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
