PQ 216

217 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if, in view of the implications and serious negative impact of the application of the nitrates regulations, he will take steps to defer the implementation of the same in order to ensure that a regulation, which would protect water quality and allow Irish farmers to remain competitive will be implemented; the steps he will take to examine the possibility of deleting tables 10 to 21 from the nitrates regulations and replace them with something that is more sensible in this context; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
