Deputy Martin Heydon asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that persons who close the sale of a property between 1 November and 31 December 2013, are liable for the local property tax for 2014 for a house they will not own in 2014, and will not be in a position to reclaim the tax from purchasers who are all now exempt until 2016; his plans to address this unfair situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
