Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Education the reason that the reference to facemasks being worn by teachers in classes with hearing difficulties which is set out in the HSE guidelines issued on 30 November 2021 was excluded in the guidelines issued by her Department to schools on 30 November 2021; the specific advice that was issued by her Department, not the National Council for Special Education on the use of facemasks in such circumstances; when her Department issued a circular to schools on this issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
