Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth further to Parliamentary Question No. 168 of 1 February 2023, where he stated that “there may be instances where a session includes hours which a parent is paying for but does not avail of. In these instances, the subsidy would reduce with the sessional fee remaining unchanged”, if he will ensure that measures will be enacted as a matter of urgency to address certain issues given the unfairness of this position, which results in affected parents paying more for childcare than if their children were in the facility for longer hours; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
