Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Skills the number of special needs assistants (SNAs) being appointed to counties Carlow and Kilkenny out of the 7% increase announced by him; if he will arrange a different process of informing SNAs that they have lost their post other than by public information on a website; if individual SNAs will be informed in a more personal way; if job security for SNAs will be introduced; if his Department will engage with the SNA sector to deal with this and other issues; if all school principals are compelled to work with the job description of an SNA as set down in contract; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
