Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine in view of his acknowledgement that no radical change in the aquaculture sector was to be expected from the Seafood Development Programme 2007 to 2013 if he will refuse to continue to co-fund this policy, which cannot provide significant employment, has had sustained falls in production and is destructive to the environment, and to instead direct these resources into tourism and angling industries here, which have a proven record of job creation in coastal communities and serious potential for growth.
