Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if the competent agencies and authorities responsible for water quality monitoring are routinely testing water samples for the presence of asbestos containing materials in public water supplies; his progress in identifying and replacing sections of the water supply network which have been found to contain asbestos cement piping; if he regards the presence of such materials as posing a particular danger to public health; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
