Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Skills the way a student who is living independently of his or her parents and earning his or her own income can be classed as a dependant when applying for Student Universal Support Ireland; the way a student who has no relationship with his or her parents can be refused a SUSI grant because he or she is unable to provide information on his or her parents' income due to the breakdown in or lack of a relationship; if such students can be considered for a higher education grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
