Deputy Billy Timmins asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding persons who have had to emigrate for employment and need to have their driving licence renewed and have now been informed that they need to travel home to Ireland from Australia, Canada and so on to apply in person to the National Drivers Licence Service in order to get an international licence they need to have a valid driving licence; the steps in place to facilitate such applicants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
