Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the reason a person who turns 40 years of age any time from 1 January to 31 December in a given year can be deemed a young farmer, but if they have not successfully completed a recognised course of education in agriculture giving rise to an award at level 6 or equivalent on the National Framework of Qualifications by 29 May of that year, they are not eligible for the complementary income support for young farmers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
