Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the additional prerequisites that will be required before Ireland can give recognition to the state of Palestine given the pledge in the Programme for Government to honour Ireland’s commitment to recognise the state of Palestine believing that in doing so Ireland will progress efforts to reach a two-state solution and in view of the unanimous view of Dáil Éireann that Israel’s settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem amounts to unlawful de facto annexation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
