Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will instruct the universities-third level institutions to abide by the terms of the Fixed Term Workers Act where fixed term and contract staff on contracts of indefinite duration will not be treated less favourably than permanent staff; if he will ensure that this instruction be explicitly extended to mention payment of redundancies at rates comparable with the ex gratia payments made to permanent public sector staff being made redundant of three weeks' salary per year of service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
