301 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí whose sole work in each of the past five years was the enforcement of road traffic law; the number of members of the Garda Síochána whose sole function at present is the same; the number who will be engaged solely in the enforcement of road traffic law in each of the next four years to the end of 2008; if these gardaí will be trained in Templemore and in the same manner as gardaí who will not be part of the new traffic corps; the reason he has made no provision for recruitment for the new traffic corps in the Estimates for 2005; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
