Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation the positions of the Industrial Development Authority and Enterprise Ireland regarding plans to either create a local court or participate in a regional unified patent court in the UK as part of the EU-wide patent system; if he supports the creation of a local unified patent court in Ireland; the extent of interdepartmental consultation between his Department and the Department of Justice and Equality regarding the creation of a local unified patent court; if any cost assessment has been conducted on the amount the creation of a new local court would be if it were created in Ireland versus the amount the State would have to pay the UK to facilitate access to the UK regional patent court; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
