399 Mr. Bruton asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs his views regarding ending the practice whereby a person on unemployment benefit will switch to becoming an adult dependent of his or her spouse; if the spouse is in receipt of a social welfare payment, once the 15 month claim has expired; and his further views on the introduction of a system of individualisation as has been applied in the tax code in order that a person who had been independent for many years should not be switched in this way to become an adult dependant.
