Deputy Paula Butterly asked the Minister for Education and Youth the steps being taken to ensure that all students, regardless of subject choice or participation in transition year, acquire essential life skills such as financial literacy, civic knowledge, digital safety and practical adult competencies before leaving the education system; whether her Department intends to expand or make mandatory the provision of life skills education at post-primary level, including at senior cycle; and the way the Government plans to ensure that students are prepared for adult life and independence, in light of evidence indicating low levels of financial and civic literacy among young adults.
