PQ 30

30. Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Minister for Finance the reason neither his Department nor the Central Bank of Ireland gave any official warning to Irish consumers about Setanta Insurance in November 2013, in view of the fact that his Department and the regulators in Ireland and Malta expressed serious concerns about the company some two months before the Maltese regulator advised the market; his views on the Maltese regulator in January 2014 insisting that existing policies would remain in force and that it would be business as usual for claims settlement; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
