Deputy Mary Butler asked the Minister for Health the position regarding the consultant neurologist post at University Hospital Waterford which appears to be have been vacated recently with no replacement appointed; when he envisages a suitable replacement for the position; the contingency plans in place for the persons who now find themselves without a consultant to administer pain management procedures; the overall plan to manage the waiting list at the hospital where patients have been advised it could take up to 18 months to be seen; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
