Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if under the European Union (Construction Products) Regulations 2013 (SI No.225 of 2013) each of the building control authorities have been designated by the State as the principal market surveillance authorities for construction products that fall within the scope of the CPR within their administrative areas; and the efforts that have been made by his Department over the past eight years to ensure that all local authorities receiving reports of mica or pyrite defective products were investigating the relevant quarries under their jurisdiction and that they were adequately resourced to meet their investigative and market surveillance responsibilities.
