Deputy Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin asked the Minister for Education and Youth the reason full-time, fully qualified post-primary teaching service completed outside the EU/EEA continues to be excluded from salary scale recognition for Irish teachers returning home; whether this policy is currently under active review; the status of any working groups or consultations examining the recognition of overseas teaching experience; and the measures being considered to ensure that experienced teachers, including those qualified in subjects where we have a shortage of teachers, such as mathematics and Gaeilge, are not financially discouraged from returning home.
