92 Deputy Liz McManus asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the Government’s position in relation to enacting universal jurisdiction; and if it accepts that it is the duty of every State to exercise its criminal jurisdiction over those responsible for international crimes in order to ensure that their national courts are able to investigate and prosecute anyone suspected of committing the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, torture, extrajudicial executions and extraordinary rendition in order to ensure that their country cannot be used as a safe haven to evade justice by those perpetrating such acts.
