Deputy Pádraig Rice asked the Minister for Health the number of data protection breaches which occurred in organisations that are under the aegis of the HSE under the Health Act 2004 and were reported to the Data Protection Commissioner, DPC, over the past five years; the total number of individuals whose data was breached over this five-year period; the data that the DPC has on the extent to which health data held by these organisations may have been transferred to the United States, US; the safeguards in place to ensure that Irish patient data is not being transferred out of the EU to the US; the extent to which independent audits are undertaken by such organisations to ensure that Irish patient data is not being transferred out of the EU; to provide an overview of the findings of such independent audits; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
