Deputy Bríd Smith asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the status of a South African citizen visiting Ireland to meet the person's spouse and family and that having applied for a 90 day visa, will not be certain if it is granted until the assessment of the immigration official at Dublin Airport on the day of the person's arrival; the steps the person can take in advance of arrival to ensure the person is granted the full duration of the visa; and the criteria applied by immigration officers in making a determination on same.
