Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will restore parity to the fees payable to criminal barristers in the same way that it has been restored to all other public sector employees given the review carried out in July 2018 by the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Department of Justice in respect of the work undertaken by criminal barristers and the conclusion in relation same communicated to his Department that the flexibilities in work practices undertaken by criminal barristers were akin to the flexibilities in work practices by public sector employees and State solicitors; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
