415 Ms Burton asked the Minister for Health and Children the recognition given within the health system here to Tourette syndrome which can affect one in one hundred people and which is a significant disorder which may be linked to other problems such as obsessive compulsive disorders and attention deficit hyper activity, in addition to the more well known symptoms such as involuntary movements and involuntary vocalisations; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that adults and children suffering from Tourette syndrome need special recognition within the medical and care system, and in particular in the case of children in relation to educational needs; her plans to improve recognition of this condition and to improve inter-Departmental co-operation for Tourette syndrome patients across health, education, employment and social services; if she will carry out a review of provision for the syndrome; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
