Durkan asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government the degree to which he has identified land in each local authority area which is deemed suitable for the provision of local authority houses in the short-term, with particular reference to the local authorities in the greater Dublin area; the extent to which he expects their respective housing programmes to accelerate henceforth in view of the fact that an increasing number of families are becoming homeless and that the local authorities do not have adequate and available emergency housing; if he will issue instructions to ensure the provision of emergency housing in line with the need; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
