PQ 377
377. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that registered architects are trained to design in compliance with the building regulations and that they have no academic or practical training to certify compliance of construction works with building regulations; and consequently if he will justify the short-listing of architects to act as assigned certifiers as per the Building Control (amendment) Regulations 2012, while other professionals with more training and experience in this field were not short-listed.
