Deputy Ann Phelan asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the position regarding establishment of the planning regulator, as recommended in the report of the Mahon tribunal almost two years ago, who would be entrusted with the power to investigate possible systemic problems in the planning system, including those raising corruption risks; if he will outline who the inspector will be; the remit of his or her role; the way members of the public may contact and meet with the inspector in question; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
